Matthew Hayes

Program Director

Matthew Hayes serves as the Program Director at California Workforce Association. In this role, he oversees and coordinates multiple programs aimed at workforce development and community engagement. He focuses on enhancing the capabilities of local workforce boards, promoting racial and economic equity, and fostering partnerships among various stakeholders, including education, labor, industry, and community organizations.

Matthew is instrumental in executing initiatives such as the Return-to-Work initiative funded by the Labor and Workforce Development Agency and Employment Development Department’s Workforce Services Branch, Regional Plan Implementation and Regional Equity and Recovery Partnerships grant funded by the LWDA and California Workforce Development Board, and the Workforce Development as Community Development initiative funded by the James Irvine Foundation. He also leads and facilitates workshops that support worker voice, safety, and rights, ensuring the implementation of effective workforce development strategies across California.
