YOU CAN BE A CHANGE AGENT!
December 14, 2021 @ 10:30 am - 12:30 pm
Our traditional approaches to increasing employment motivation are no match for today’s powerful forces working against employment motivation. People are rightly afraid of Covid. For other individuals the prospect of a long job search is enough to keep them out of the labor market. Jobs may not pay enough or be good enough to draw people to them. People are discouraged by the reality of employment discrimination. Some people feel they are unemployable. There are many other barriers to employment motivation as well.
The truth is you can’t motivate anyone to do anything. Ultimately they have to decide they want to do it. But the reality is that there are a lot of things you can do to help them reconsider if going to work is the right choice for them. Motivation is a partnership. You can create a strong climate for motivation if you redesign the services you deliver and the way you deliver them, but the individual will decide whether or not to get motivated. You are the climate for change and the individual is the catylst of change. Working together you can become a powerful team for making employment progress.
This webinar incorporates the wisdom and experience of people who started our programs with low levels of employment motivation and found their way to higher levels of motivation that led to jobs and careers. We will learn about their journeys and what staff and programs did to help them along the way. We will also learn about the mistakes staff and programs made that did not help them improve their motivation and in fact, often hurt their desire to change. Learn what helped these people go from “no work no way” to “I got the job!” and incorporate these powerful lessons into your work and you will be much more effective.
Learn how to do a Change History Assessment that will reveal both motivation assets and motivation blockers. Discover the power of the What Do I Win? What Do I Lose? exercise that helps people look objectively at what they will get and what they will lose by pursuing employment so they can compare and contrast employment and being unemployed. This webinar will show you how to develop and deliver services in a new ways that will help people rethink employment on their own terms. Many people focus on the paycheck as the only benefit of employment. This webinar will show you how to go much deeper than a paycheck to find the many other benefits of employment that will resonate with the people you serve.
When you use the approaches in this webinar you can create a powerful motivational synergy and energy between you and the program participant that can be the springboard to employment success! Regardless of your job title, what population of people you work with or what type of program you have, if you are looking for new ways to improve employment motivation, don’t miss this webinar!
