About CWA

The California Workforce Association is the statewide association of California's local workforce development boards, the public-private boards that oversee job training and employment services in every region of the state. CWA advocates for the local workforce system in Sacramento and Washington, D.C., and brings the field together each year at WorkCon, Meeting of the Minds, and the Executive Fellowship.

The Position

The Membership, Events & Communications Coordinator is responsible for CWA's relationships with member boards, affiliate members, conference sponsors, and exhibitors. You will run CWA's communications calendar and the registration and on-site operations for CWA's conferences.

On CWA's small team, the Chief Impact Officer sets direction for member experience, communications, and conference design, and the Chief Financial Officer manages accounting and works with you on invoicing. You will help shape that direction with what you hear from members and what each event's results show. Then you will own making it happen, using your judgment so that members, sponsors, exhibitors, and attendees get what they signed up for.

This position reports to the Chief Impact Officer.

What You Will Do

  • Run registration and on-site operations at WorkCon, Meeting of the Minds, and the Executive Fellowship, carrying out the program and attendee experience the Chief Impact Officer designs.
  • Manage renewals and onboarding for member boards and affiliate members, track affiliate member dues, keep the roster of local board directors current, and bring member feedback and ideas into how CWA designs member benefits.
  • Sell and service sponsorship and exhibitor packages within the package and pricing structure set with the Chief Impact Officer and Executive Director, track payments, and follow up after each event on renewals.
  • Run CWA's communications calendar: publish the weekly newsletter, keep the website current, and post regularly on social media, including celebrating the work of local boards, within the strategy and brand standards set by the Chief Impact Officer.
  • Maintain CWA's training and events calendar and coordinate logistics for webinars, Executive Fellowship sessions, and technical-assistance programs.
  • Track funding opportunities and requests for proposals, and coordinate deadlines and submission logistics for CWA's responses.
  • Report weekly on registrations, sponsorships, and exhibitors against targets during each registration window.

What You Will Bring

  • Three years of experience in membership management, sponsorship or sales, event registration, or association operations.
  • Experience with event registration and CRM platforms, and a track record of picking up new tools quickly.
  • An associate's degree or equivalent experience.
  • Accuracy with data and follow-through on details.
  • The judgment to run programs independently within an agreed strategy on a remote team.
  • Warmth and reliability in relationships with members, partners, and vendors.

Helpful, But Not Required

  • Experience in a membership association or nonprofit, or familiarity with local government or the public workforce system.
  • Experience with Cvent, a website content management system, Canva or Adobe tools, Constant Contact or a similar email platform, and AI tools for writing, design, or data work.
  • Experience producing newsletters or managing a social media calendar for an organization.

Benefits

As a CSAC employee, you will be eligible for health, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(a) retirement plan, flexible spending accounts, paid holidays, and vacation and sick leave.
