THE SECRETS BEHIND TURNING VIRTUAL INTERVIEWS INTO JOB OFFERS! THE HIDDEN TRICKS OF THE TRADE TO GIVING VIRTUAL INTERVIEWS THAT LEAD TO “YOU GOT THE JOB!”

December 12, 2023 @ 10:30 am - 12:30 pm

“Virtual interviews are here to stay.”
Quote from the Society of Human Resource Management. SHRM is the world’s biggest association of people in human resources.

“83% of hiring managers use virtual interviews.”
Quote from Indeed which is the highest traffic job website in the United States.

Virtual interviewing is here to stay, and it is growing in popularity. Besides using only virtual interviewing, employers also use a hybrid model where they use virtual interviewing for preliminary interviews and in-person interviews for the final interview. Regardless of how employers use virtual interviews, job seekers still must score high on the virtual interview to get a job offer.

But there is a big disconnect between the way we teach people to interview and the demands of virtual interviewing. When you make such a big change in the medium that is used for the interview, people should also make big changes in how they interview. They need to compensate for the communication barrier of not being in the same place. Interviewing from your home, using technology and talking to a screen present all kinds of new considerations and challenges. Most workforce development programs are making a major mistake by teaching interviewing techniques that worked for live interviews, but that do not work for virtual interviews.

Because job seekers don’t know the tricks of the trade for giving successful virtual interviews, fewer virtual interviews are leading to job offers than happened with in-person interviews. The workforce system is still teaching interviewing in the old pre-Zoom way and many people are not getting job offers because they don’t know how to sell themselves through a screen.

This webinar is based on Larry Robbin observing hundreds of job seekers giving virtual interviews as part of Larry’s work with employers to improve their interviewing and hiring decisions. Larry has over forty-five years of experience seeing candidates interview and training employers to be better at interviewing and making the hiring decision. He has been a part of the hiring decisions for over 500 job seekers.

Larry saw the many mistakes people made in virtual interviews and most of these things are not being taught in workforce programs. Are you teaching people how to make the best choices in terms of where they interview from? Do you know what employers prefer in terms of backgrounds for interviews? Do your job seekers know how to make lighting and the interview space work for them? Are you helping people with the best practices for managing their technology? Most people do not know how to dress for a virtual interview, and we need to teach people how to look in ways that work for a virtual interview.

Body language accounts for over 55% of communication when we are face to face. We lose the majority of that when we communicate through a screen. Are you teaching your job seekers how to compensate for the loss of body language communication, so they get their messages across to employers in the most convincing and effective ways possible? Ineffective virtual interview body language has cost many people job offers. In the process of developing this webinar, Larry also gathered feedback from many employers about the problems they saw with the way people interviewed virtually and what the employers wanted to see and hear from virtual candidates.

Larry combined his own observations of job seekers in virtual interviews with the feedback from employers to create this unique and revealing webinar. He also did a great deal of research about the best practices for virtual interviews. The results are in this unique webinar which can make the difference between a candidate being rejected or getting a job offer.

Stop teaching people to interview as if they were in the same room as the employer. You need to learn the hidden tricks of the trade of virtual interviews so you can update what you tell your job seekers because
the virtual distance requires new interview techniques. If you want to help more people hear employers say, “You got the job” at the end of virtual interview, do not miss this webinar!
